Week of 1/18/10 — Training Summary

The Overview
Into week 12 of the OS and my 25.3 mile journey around Boston for the Run for Haiti Project (you can still donate!) really took this week to the cleaners. I did my best to make it resemble a standard OutSeason week, but the hole of fatigue from the run was slightly bigger than I anticipated.
Actually, I should state that while my ego thought I’d be back on track by Tuesday (one day rest, right?), but my brain said Saturday…that said, I felt pretty good by Thursday (not too bad) and am actually looking forward to next week. Of course, this upcoming Saturday is an 8-mile Computrainer TT hosted by Harpoon, and so there is some serious suffering to be had as well. Will be spicing up this week with some TT-prep workouts…should be fun!
Body Comp Update: Still at 175/6, and am loving it. I really went to town on my Saturday binge meal (see dinner here), going home for ice cream as well. I have learned that I “streak” with my eating…so I actually need to apply more focus / effort to eating well the day after I binge than at any other time during the week. Trying to stay strong even as I type this…just posted a “Heads/Tails” prediction challenge to my twitter account…please post in what you think my goals should be!
The Workouts
Monday — Off. Didn’t feel as bad as I thought I would, but was shelled.
Tuesday — Trainer Ride of 15′ then girls woke up, so then went to YMCA and ran 20′ after our Spanish class. Just enough.
Wednesday — Ride 44′ trainer for 15 miles as .893 IF for 60 TSS, 6 x (4x 30/30). Kept it very reasonable today.
Thursday — 4×5′ at 345 and 15′ at .824 for 60′ at .877. Not too shabby. Waaaay better than expected.
Friday — Saturday ride on friday as 2 x 20 (320, 295), then 30′ at .8. Total of 81′ at .845 for 103 TSS. Shattered after 3rd consecutive trainer day!
Saturday — 45′ easy run for 6.5 miles on the Cape. When done, legs feel like I ran 13 miles!!! Clearly still beat.
Sunday — Same as yesterday, just keeping things on track.
Stats Summary for the Week
Weight: 175-6.
FTP: 325 sounds a bit high after last fridays 320/295 20′ debacle…but could just be fatigue + 3rd quality trainer session in a row. We’ll learn more this weekend!
vDOT: 55 it is. Did minimal running this week…just happy to have legs that work!
CTL: 61 TSS/day (previous week was 61 TSS/day), so pretty consistent given the crazy schedule.
TSB: -16 (prev as -15). Seems like the big effort from last Sunday kept the CTL high despite the lighter overall workload this week. Really hoping that the Saturday / Sunday lighter runs have me back on track for this upcoming week!
