I have been consciously working on looking at the positive outcomes of my bicycle accident (now over 7 weeks ago!); lots of glass half full type stuff. This gets easier every day as my body continues to heal and bounce back at an amazing rate. It's probably normal stuff -- this isn't some super-human tale! Since my initial expectations were so low after the accident, the fact that I can actually ride my bicycle again right now is just amazing to me.

The life of the 21st century athlete is all about doing more. We want to be faster and stronger even as we get older. We want to do more, learn more, work more, earn more, even as the amount of time we have to do each of these things gets smaller with each additional focus.
I have been a coach for a long time. Well, at least a long time in the game of triathlon. While I by no means have all the answers, I have seen enough to have built my own "sense" of how things work for the athletes I work with.
With all my writing, I realized that it could be really helpful to take a step back and talk big picture. This post is about what I consider to be the basic building blocks of the endurance lifestyle -- five core components.
