About six months ago I made a shift in my food habits. Not the eating part of it (although that could use some adjusting), but the hunting/gathering part of it. I finally broke down and signed up for the Peapod grocery delivery service. It took me a while to get over the threshold for signing up, but once I did, I have never looked back. In fact, every time I go to the supermarket now, and wait in long lines or watch another neophyte bungle the self-checkout aisle, I love my Peapod even more.
- It’s Not Cool, It’s Time Management. Instead of making a list, driving to the supermarket, wandering and shopping, checking out, packing car, driving home and unpacking…my shopping activities now include logging in, selecting online, setting a delivery time and unpacking. The first three activities I can do anywhere, the fourth I can do on my own timeline. One Word: Awesome.
- Reduce the “Browsing” Factor. I think the wandering of aisles for food is horribly inefficient. The set up is designed more to sell you stuff, not to help you shop. By shopping online I can avoid all the displays, aisle changes, etc.
- Never Forgetting. My shopping list comes off my “rewards card”, so all my items are instantly there. And they are there either as a master list or my most recent shopping list everytime I login. Once I place my order, I have until midnight that night to go back and edit it…so just in case I forgot something, all I have to do is login and add it. Possibly my favorite part.
- Shop Where You Want. My supermarket is more function than form. I’d rather “browse” for food in a place where they have neat stuff that I might want to try, say Trader Joe’s. Using Peapod means I get the basic items I need and the freedom to browse other places for better food…can’t beat it!
If you want to maximize your time @ home, @ work, etc., I’d seriously suggest you try your local delivery option. I think it’s a great investment of your time.
Happy Shopping!
