Here’s another dose of Friday links and reading for you…it’s a wild one, so I hope you enjoy!

The picture above is by Rolf Schulte. We have been looking at picture concepts for our Triathlon Rally series (Endurance Nation), and his stuff is killer. He does a ton of amazing work, but our focus is on the Ironman stuff. Check his site out and buy some inspirational stuff!

On the entrepreneurial front, good friend and solid rider Dan Socie had his launch party for his latest venture, Soigneur on Wednesday night. They have a laser focus on creating high quality product that, in their own words, does wonders: By the time you step out of the house, your muscles are already a few miles down the road. Mine’s in the mail…where’s yours? Get some here.

There was so much random stuff coming down the pike this week I had to create a separate “Misinformation Category” for all of it. First there was the random “Test Your Ironman Run” thread over at ST. I don’t think the author meant to make things confusing, but ST has that affect on almost everything. There are some good nuggets there if you can find them! Then there was Joe Friel’s post on the Specificity of Training. There was a good section devoted to running economy where he perpetuated some of the long-standing myths from the running space on the value of running at a fixed pace (yikes!). Get a good breakdown of why this isn’t true, as told by smartguy Chris Whyte. Finally there is Mark Allen’s latest newsletter, where he discusses the concept of “lipid power”, or how true endurance potential (and performance) is a function of training your body to process the most carbs — I think I am going to vomit on all this misinformation! I hope you can find your way out!

On the nutritional front, I have been getting back to basics after a wake up call with my scale last weekend. I found this great blog post from the Fitness Spotlight blog: Break Bad Eating Habits With Intermittent Fasting.

Software-wise I have been using Jing on my mac to make screencast movies, and I love it. So easy…if you have to do this sort of thing don’t make it any harder on yourself!

I would be remiss not to talk about my own projects, so here goes. This upcoming monday I am doing a talk entitled Cycling 2.0 — Training & Racing with Power at TriFitLab in RI at 7pm. Please RSVP here to play along (free food and beverages) or wait for the post-event coverage. You’ll notice the affiliate with TTBikeFit.com, who I highly recommend to do your online fitting. Todd is the man.

The Triathlon Answers website continues to grow over at TriathlonAnswers.com. We have some regular contributors and a really good balance of Q and A. If you have any questions of your own that need answering, or if you like to help other folks out, please drop in and lend a hand! You can also follow TA via Twitter or subscribe to the weekly digest!

Have a great weekend!
