After much hemming and hawing, typing and printing, and little bit of editing, it’s done. Thirty-odd pages outlining the driving principles behind this site and the 10Hours A Week approach. You can access it by visiting the Manifesto page as linked above.

Competitive Triathlon in 10 Hours a Week (PDF) is the product of over five years of triathlon training & coaching experience. It is an approach fundamentally based in using how your life functions now to make the best possible training experience.

Take a long hard look at the endurance / triathlon training books currently on the market and you’ll see that some of the same books have been in print for over ten years. Arguably some are classics, but I think that the world as we know it has changed significantly in the last ten years. Not in the holy-cow-anyone-could-be-a-terrorist type way, but in a work-non-stop, maximize-your-hours, email-always-on, “remember-when-you-met-real-people-in-person-and-not-online?” kind of way.

While the information in some of these books is useful, most if it isn’t even remotely relevant to the triathletes / endurance athletes of today. My favorite is the annual training plan process…most people don’t plan more than three months out, much less a whole year. Heck, by the time you are done planning the entire year out, you’ve probably already missed a workout…then you have to bump day one…which affects days two through three hundred and sixty five. Eraser, anyone?

I’d like to think that Competitive Triathlon in 10 Hours a Week (PDF) cuts through all this extraneous stuff, getting right down to getting you off of the computer and out the door to train. But writing something like a training book kind of makes me feel like a cartoon villain…I keep defaulting into a monologue on the given topic. Bear with me as I will continue to refine the text – and the 10Hours Approach – as we grow and evolve together.

Stepping back for a second, this is (admittedly) the first part of a larger work. This first release contains the methodology element, outlining the following basic components:

    - The Self Coached Athlete
    - The Third Way Methodology
    - Fitness In 10Hours A Week

Part Two will have the full planning component, outlining the exact steps to take in creating your own time-relevant training plan. It will even have some basic spreadsheet templates to facilitate the planning process. For now, download the PDF and happy reading!
