Time is a ruthless master. Whether you want to be a pro or just get a 30′ run in, it all comes down to time. The biggest challenge that most AG athletes have is making the time to get workouts done, period. Work, family, life…all these things are part of a complicated puzzle that we can only solve for short periods of time.
One of the best ways to deal with the timing issue is to make sure you are ready to go at a moment’s notice. To this end, I make sure that my bike is always ready to go:
- I clean my bike (5′) after every ride so it’s clean and ready for the next workout.
- I check and pump up tires @ end (and beginning, but usually they’re okay).
- Helmet, sunglasses and gloves go on the handlebars.
- Shoes stay on the pedals (instant transition practice!).
- Bottles go right into dishwasher.
- I have 3 sets of full bike kit to help me survive any random wash cycle, but gear goes right in to be washed pile
In addition to this bike stuff, I also have swim/run gear with me at all times. Better safe than sorry!
