As an age group triathlete, i love training for the run 3X/wk, bike 2X/wk & swim 1-2X/wk. For a living, I'm a personal trainer & group instructor so i teach a Boot Camp class, a strength training class that i call "Power Plyo & Pump" & train individual personal clients. For a fun diversion, great calorie burn, & serious interval training I box 1X/wk. All of these training sessions have a specific function: the run & bike are split into endurance & high intensity workouts each week; the swim is a combination of technique drills & endurance work; the group classes help pay the hefty triathlon registration fees & I make sure they're well rounded athletic performance workouts that include strength, power & endurance plus running form drills, speed work, & plyometrics; the boxing helps workout stress & aggression plus its an intense interval workout.... so when you say outline what is critical & what's not... seems like the boxing has to go to be replaced with a bike or swim. When you put it like that it makes it easy... a little sad, but very simple!
